For about the price of a weekly cup of coffee, you can become a member of the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics. In return, you will receive numerous resources and opportunities to network and communicate with others in the pediatric field. And your dues dollars will help provide better health care for Ohio’s children through advocacy. While other Ohio primary care physician organizations charge between $300-$500 for yearly membership or more, the Ohio AAP dues are only $150 annually. The Ohio AAP is in an exciting period of development right now, with many great programs already implemented such as the Open Forum meetings that not only provide free CME, but also an opportunity for open dialogue with pediatricians and other professionals in related fields; has received an $800,000 state earmark for an autism screening program for autism and developmental delays to be run by the Ohio AAP; and received a $200,000 state earmark for Reach Out and Read Ohio, a program of the Ohio AAP, Ohio AAP Foundation and National ROR; partnered with Healthy Child Care Ohio to assist child care health consultants in helping find medical homes; and developed a Pediatric Council to address pediatrician’s concerns regarding insurance coverage and reimbursement. |
