Early Education & Child Care

Description of committee: The mission of the OEECC committee is to improve the health, safety and quality of our of home experiences of young children in Ohio. The committee would like to make Ohio a model state in the area of Early Education and Out of Home Care.
Goals and Activities:
- Work with other committees to promote the Medical Home
- Identify educational opportunities for pediatricians regarding Early Education and Child Care. Activities including assisting OCCRRA in dissemination of guidelines for Health Care Professionals and presenting at Open Forums.
- Identify ways pediatricians can influence policy and participate in legislative advocacy. Activities include working with Pediatricians on Call and supporting legislation to licence home child care providers.
- Identify educational opportunities for medical students and residents. Activity includes offering Grand Round topics to residency programs.
- Help disadvantaged children access the highest quality early education and child care settings. Activities include partnering with ODH, OCCRRA, Head Start and other Early Childhood partners to ameliorate disparity in early childhood experiences for children in Ohio.
Meeting dates: The committee meets in the fall and spring each year. Participants can join via conference call.

The committee works closely with our Early Education and Health partners including the Ohio Department of Health, Healthy Child Care Ohio and the Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association.
