To keep you informed on a weekly basis of what’s going on at the Ohio AAP we are launching “Ohio AAP Today.” This weekly e-mail will let you know of an upcoming event; ask for your help on a project; or just pass along helpful information. Let us know your thoughts on the new venture, e-mail chapter@ohioaap.org.

OPEN WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! – The Ohio AAP is soliciting quotes and comments from Annual Meeting attendees on their experiences at the meeting. We would like to use this information on our Web site and in promotional materials for the 2010 Annual Meeting on Nov. 5-6 in Columbus. The comments can be brief, and can either be credited or anonymous. If you’d like to include a photo with your comments that would be great! If you’d like to contribute, please e-mail your comments (and photo) to Elizabeth Kelleher at ekelleher@ohioaap.org.
TACKLING THE ISSUE OF PARENTAL REFUSAL OF VACCINES – Last year, the Ohio AAP was awarded the Healthy People 2010 Grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics to address parental concerns as a large barrier to immunizing children. The Ohio AAP has partnered with the Ohio Department of Health, parent advocacy groups, community and faith-based organizations to address these concerns. The Ohio AAP is also using its existing grant-funded program Maximizing Office Based Immunization (MOBI), to get information into the hands of physicians so they can more adequately address these concerns. Members of the partnership will be meeting again next week, March 17 from 1-3 p.m. to review materials to be tested on various stakeholders including parents to attempt to discover the best way to approach this problem. If you would like to be part of this committee or have stories to share, please contact Elizabeth Kelleher (e-mail: ekelleher@ohioaap.org or call (614) 846-6258) at the Ohio AAP for more information.
